Hotel Sorano

Seorak Hanwha Resort 

     In the beautiful foothills of Mount Seoraksan just  10 minutes of drive from downtown Sokcho sits «Seorak Hanwha Resort». For its beautiful Tuscani architecture the building carries the name of Sorano after the historical village of Sorano in southern   Tuscany (Italy).

Sorano building comprises of 9 blocks all connected to each other making a rather long building.  Since all blocks are connected to each other it offers a comfortable movement inside the hotel especially in snowy or rainy weather.  Guests are greeted by friendly staff at the lobby.

Reception

Following are schematic pictures of the most common Family Type rooms.   Overall there are two types of such rooms:  Double & Triple.   Double Type rooms offer one big bedroom and one big living room.  Triple Type rooms offer one master bedroom with double bed and one smaller bedroom with a single bed.  They are offered in several configurations according to the customer's choice:   Double bed + Single bed,  Double bed + ondol (sleeping on the floor), and completely Ondol, with mats to sleep on the floor like in Traditional Korean houses.

Let's see what is available inside each rooms.  The hotel is not really a "hotel" in its technical meaning but it is actually a condominium.  Hence, the rooms are equipped with a small kitchen corner with all kitchen utensils needed for a nice family get-together:  regrigirator, electric cooktops, utelsils & plates,  rice cooker, electric teapot.

Each rooms are equipped with heated floor and there are additional mats and blankets available in the wardrobe, 32'' flat screen tv with channels in Korean, English, and Chinese.  Also, each rooms have balcony from where opens a nice view to the beautiful mountains.  

Triple Type room

When it comes to eating there is a Korean restaurant inside the building in the lobby.  It is open from 11am to 9pm in the evening.  While most of meals offered are Korean dishes some are close to the taste of a foreigner.  The restaurant is named Haemaji (해맞이), meaning Sunrise.  A hint to come here for breakfast as well ? :))

Though guests can have breakfast in Haemaji on peak seasons of summer or winter, the main breakfast lounge is located little bit down the hallway in B1 level.  The place is called Arte and is open from 7am to 11pm.  Here guests are greeted with buffet breakfast with both Korean meals as well as traditional American style breakfast.   There are also abundance of fruits and bakeries as well.   Separate rooms for a group or large family is also provided for additional comfort.

The staff is almost always very good in handling with kids.  Speaking of taking care of children many services such as kids' room, or special chairs for toddlers are pleasant features for families with children.
