How to get here

Transfer from Seoul to Sokcho

There are two options of taking the express bus to Sokcho depending on which part of Seoul you are in. Here are the two terminals you can take express bus from: 

Express Bus Terminal: 
Get to Express Bus Terminal (서울고속버스터미널) located on the intersection of line 3, 7 and 9 of Seoul Metro.   There will be various bus lines and you should follow directions to Gyongbuson (경부선) line which will operate the express bus to Sokcho.  Once you are at the ticket seller's window ask them to give you a ticket to Gangwon-do, Sokcho city (강원도 속초시).   Bus fare will be 18,300 won for an adult.   That will be it.   The ride usually takes 2,5 hours and in between the bus makes a stop for restroom / store.  

Gangbyeon Bus Terminal: 
Dongseoul Bus Terminal (동서울버스터미널) on Gangbyeon Station on line 2 is also a very convenient terminal to get the bus.  Once you get to Gangbyeon Station (강변역) cross the street towards the bus terminal shown in the picture below.   Here you can get to any ticket selling windows and get a ticket to Sokcho (강원도 속초시).  It takes a bit less time of about 2 hours due to terminal's location.  



No matter where you take the bus, right in the outskirt of Sokcho buses make a stop at the entrance of  Hanwha Resort.  You should tell the driver to make the stop though before boarding the bus though, otherwise the driver might assume nobody will be getting off.   This will save you the time of going to downtown Sokcho and having to travel all the way back on a taxi.  The bad part about getting off at the entrance of Hanwha Resort is that you will have to walk some 10 minutes (1-2 km) to get to the main building of Sorano.  In case of choosing to walk, in the below photo the green dashed line shows the walking path to the main building of Sorano (쏘라노), to point A. 

So for people with heavy luggage I would not recommend to make this shortcut. 
 Instead, it is better to get off the bus at the final stop at the terminal and get a cab from there.  Here's our address to find our resort:
